A typical morning in St. Hilda's School Kitchen
by Debbie (
our cook!)

Good morning!  Our days begin with Breakfast Club at 7.45 followed by our butcher (Cook and Sons) arriving, bright and early with our fresh meat for the day's lunch.
Our friendly Greengrocer (Browns of Bushey) arrives with more fresh fruit, salad and vegetables.

.

Preparing salads is one of Jackie's first jobs.  Jackie and I prepare the salads for lunch

Popping the rolls into the oven is also one of the first jobs that needs to be done.

Time to cook up the vegetables to put into today's lunch, (chicken risotto).

Maggie deals with the sandwiches for After School Care.  They are made fresh every day.
Biscuits are made every 2 to 3 days.  Coconut, oat, semolina or choc chip!

Pudding time, it's trifle today, but there is always fresh fruit available.

Rolls are ready and left to cool in time for lunch.

A salad table is laid every day by Tracy, with cheeses and fresh meats available.

Lunchtime. Children arrive, they have a choice of a meat dish, vegetable dish, potatoes, bread or pasta. Vegetables or salad are always an option.

As always, service with a smile!

We have two sittings each day for lunch at 11.50am - 12.30pm for the Lower School and 12.30pm - 1.00pm for the Upper School.
Each day there is a vegetarian choice as well as the salad bar, fresh fruit and pudding, mainly cooked in the school kitchen.
Our meat and vegetables come from local Bushey shops and the bread rolls, and of course the biscuits are made in our kitchen.
Weekly menus are prepared by Debbie and displayed in each form room, outside the dining room and on the web site, so that the children can decide each day what they are going to eat.  Debbie also creates international menus, special event menus and we have days when each form or 'House' chooses the menu for the day.  We regularly invite parents from each class to come and enjoy lunch with us. At Christmas we all have lunch together in the Whitby Hall with fresh turkey from the butcher and all the usual trimmings with fresh vegetables and fruit from the greengrocer.

On Fridays children who have displayed good table manners during the week are chosen to sit at the "Special Table".
