Key Stage 2
Key Stage 2 is comprised of Forms 3,4,5 &6 aged 7 - 11.
We build on the firm foundations laid in the Early Years and Key Stage 1, but also broaden the curriculum to draw on the rich experience of specialist subject teachers, giving the best preparation, and building confidence for girls entering 11+ examinations.
Our approach to teaching and learning ensures that your child will achieve her full potential academically whilst thoroughly enjoying her time at St Hilda’s by taking an active part in a huge variety of challenging activities.
There are always many opportunities for the girls to shine, gain confidence and self-esteem, these include concerts, plays, poetry festivals, competitive sports teams, clubs, and field trips away. The creative arts are particularly strong at St. Hilda’s and we are very proud of our record in helping girls to achieve 11+ scholarships in music, art, and performing arts as well as academic scholarships.
Excellent pastoral care is something that St. Hilda’s is renowned for, and this can also be seen in the House system which is very strong at Key Stage 2, fostering a sense of loyalty, respect and involving great independent team building activities.
Good manners, caring for friends and high standards of behaviour are encouraged and rewarded. Form 6 girls are given the extra responsibilities of becoming Prefects, House/Sports Captains and Monitors and through this; they become good role models for younger pupils.
There are many extra-curricular activities on offer, some of which take place during the school day and others are after school, such as ballet and tap lessons. We are also able to offer individual music lessons including piano, violin, cello, woodwind and a guitar group. There are also netball clubs, ICT clubs, Art club, Spanish club and a Drama club available.
