"Technology is a gift of God. After the gift of life it is perhaps the greatest of God's gifts. It is the mother of civilizations, of arts and of sciences."
ICT at St. Hilda's School, is taught from the Reception class to Form 6 in our purpose built ICT suite. All classrooms are also equipped with computers, televisions and DVD players. Most classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards. The ICT lessons are 40 minutes long and there is opportunity for the girls to visit the suite at break times and lunch times to work on other subjects, do research, type up essays etc. There is also an "early bird" session from 8.00 - 8.30am every morning as well as an after school ICT club for Forms 5 and 6.
The ICT lessons are based upon the National Curriculum with an emphasis on the Units that we feel best benefit the girls at St. Hilda's School. The software used, on our Windows XP machines, includes, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and Powerpoint), plus a large selection of carefully chosen software on CD.
ICT at St. Hilda's School is seen as in important part of the children's education both complimenting and enhancing the other subjects across the curriculum. Internet safety is taken very seriously and the girls are all taught how to stay safe online. We aim to send our girls to their next stage of education, fully equipped to face the technology they will come across in the future.
