Welcome to St. Hilda's School's
'Old Girls'
We enjoy meeting and hearing from our "Old Girls". Mrs Cavanagh and the staff take great pleasure in reading about your successes and your plans for the future.
If any old girls reading this page would like to send a short letter about what has happened to you since you left St Hilda's, together with a small photograph and the year in which you left, please E-Mail the Web Manager at

 crowesandi@btconnect.com

We were delighted to be visited on 10/09/08 by four old girls who were at school here in the 1950s and 1960s.
Reading from left to right....
Marcia Mishcon nee Leigh 1956-1968, Victoria Withrington nee Frampton 1956-1970, Karen Druce nee Jeffries 1963-1968, Josephine Bowron nee Allen 1957-1968.
It was lovely to met them and they obviously enjoyed their visit, appreciating the enormous changes within the school which have taken place since their time here. They have promised to stay in touch and we look forward to seeing them again.

We have received this Email from Nikita Shah - Left St. Hilda's in 1990
I started St. Hilda's in 1988 when Mrs. Cooper was headmistress and I was about 11 years old. I can't believe how the years have flown by so quickly.  I remember having Home Economics with Mrs. Wigfield all the way upstairs in the Lower School. It was one of my favourite classes! I even remember Mrs. Porthouse....I think that was her name....she used to teach history.  She was fantastic!  My fondest memories of going to school in England were there at St. Hilda's.  The grounds were beautiful and I even remember what it looked like before the new hall (the name of which I can't remember) was built.  I remember the school was in the newspapers because they found an air raid shelter underground while digging to lay the foundation for the new hall. It was all too exciting!  Anyways, now I live in the United States of America. We moved here in 1992.  I am a first grade teacher and was just married last summer.  I still remember St. Hilda's and I actually want to try to develop pen pals with my students and St. Hilda's students if that's at all possible! I am so excited to see how nice the school looks on the website and I hope to stay in touch!

These are some of our old girls with some of their memories.

Excerpt from an email received from Karen Freeman who left us in 1985. Thank you Karen for remembering us and getting in touch after all this time.

...."Here I am sitting at work in 2006 and thought I'd just browse the internet as one does when one is really bored! I came across my old school! Wow, did I just go back almost 21 years since I left and the past half hour of browsing has brought back many many memories of my past! I started at St Hilda's in 1974 where I was in Form 1 with Mrs Kettlewell, how could we ever forget her, bless her, she used to get so annoyed at times and bang her hand down on the tables, crikey we all thought... that's the end of that table! I then worked my way through school with teachers such as Mrs Petty, Mrs Batten (everybody's favourite!!), Mrs Sale(also another fave!) and many more until my time was finally up in 1985 when that Summer saw the end of my schooling days!
Mrs Hanney was Headmistress when I started and then we saw Mrs Cooper take us through our years to the end of senior school.

I have so many many memories of the years from 1974 to 1985, its hard to believe its 2006 now!"
