 Delivering Excellence

Your child deserves the best and at St. Hilda’s we achieve that by celebrating  individuals and by inspiring them to reach their potential through  a wide range of exciting academic and extra-curricular activities and experiences.

St Hilda's School recognizes that each child is an individual; that all children are creative; that all children need to succeed. Therefore, St Hilda's School respects the individual needs of children; fosters a caring and creative environment; and emphasizes the social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of each child.

" St Hilda's has helped me build my self confidence and feels like a second home to me."

 Gifted and Talented

We are committed to developing the talents of all girls to the full. We encourage a spirit of enquiry and seek to provide challenge so that our academically able girls are inspired to strive for excellence. In sports too, as well as the performing and creative arts, we foster individual gifts and provide opportunity for girls to grow.

The staff team identify and regularly review the top "gifted and talented" pupils in each year group, through formative and summative assessment.

  • To be recognised as "gifted" an individual must demonstrate great understanding and ability in a subject area. Many of our "gifted" pupils demonstrate high ability in more than one subject area.
  • To be recognised as "talented" an individual displays great talent in a subject such as music, ballet, sport, drama and art or design technology.

At St Hilda's we wish to provide for these pupils and to give them the challenge and extension which they yearn and deserve. Teachers carefully plan activities for these girls within lessons and our many clubs, outings, library and computer suite enable all our pupils to explore areas of interest in depth

Learning Support

St Hilda's is committed to helping any of the girls who need learning support to overcome their difficulties and achieve their full potential.

In particular our Learning Support Team work closely with subject teachers to identify girls who would benefit from additional help in English and Mathematics.

The team devise individual programmes tailored to each girl's needs and provide small group tuition in a positive and encouraging environment. We also provide support for girls whose first language is not English.

We find that this encouragement and support allows girls to develop self confidence and self esteem which in turn leads to improvements in the standard of work they produce. It also helps with their social development as they grow into mature, confident and independent young women.
